- What your skin actually needs
Onassis Skin Medical Group offers medical aesthetics in Beverly Hills and Newport Beach, built on one question: what does your skin actually need?
Botox, Dysport, dermal filler, Sculptra, laser treatments and medical-grade skincare can all produce beautiful results. But more treatment isn’t always better treatment. We assess first, then recommend only what will make a real difference for you.
-
Assessment first
A consultation is an evaluation, never an obligation to treat.
-
Matched to the cause
Each treatment solves a different problem. We find the problem first.
-
Results you can protect
Skincare and sunscreen help your skin recover and keep its gains.
Why more treatment isn’t always better
Aesthetic medicine in Los Angeles is crowded with packages, memberships and bundled procedures. That makes it hard to tell what will genuinely help from what is simply for sale.
We take a different approach. You might arrive certain you need filler, Sculptra, Botox or a specific laser. After an assessment, we may agree, suggest something else, or recommend no procedure at all.
Every face doesn’t need filler. Every line doesn’t need neurotoxin. Every dark spot doesn’t need a laser.
Menu-first care
- Starts with what’s on offer
- Treats the request as the diagnosis
- Adds procedures to build a package
- Aftercare is an afterthought
Our assessment-first care
- Starts with your skin, anatomy and goals
- Identifies what’s causing the concern
- Leaves out what won’t help
- Plans skincare before and after
What happens at your aesthetic consultation
Good results start with careful patient selection. Here’s how we get to a recommendation.
-
Your goals and history
What you’d like to change, past treatments, medical history and how much downtime fits your life.
-
Clinical assessment
Skin type, skin quality, facial anatomy, sun damage and your tendency toward pigment changes.
-
Find the cause
Is the concern driven by muscle movement, volume, skin quality, pigment, or something else?
-
An honest recommendation
One of three outcomes:
- Treat as requested
- A different approach
- No procedure
If a treatment would create a result that looks overdone or unnatural, we’ll tell you, and we’re comfortable saying no.
Botox, filler, Sculptra or laser? Matching treatment to the cause
These treatments aren’t interchangeable, and popularity isn’t a reason to choose one. The right tool depends on what’s creating the concern.
| Treatment | How it works | When you’ll notice change | How long it typically lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Botox / DysportLines from repeated muscle movement | Temporarily relaxes targeted muscles | Within days; full effect around 2 weeks | About 3 to 4 months |
| HA fillerLost structure or volume in one area | A gel placed to restore structure or volume | Right away, settling over about 2 weeks | Roughly 6 to 18 months, by product and area |
| SculptraGradual loss of skin support | Stimulates your own collagen over time | Gradually over a few months, usually after a series | Up to about 2 years |
| LaserPigment, texture, sun damage, scars | Controlled energy prompts the skin to repair and renew | After healing, often building over several sessions | Varies with device, skin and sun exposure |
| SkincareEveryday skin quality and protection | Daily actives, barrier support and sun protection | Over weeks to months | Ongoing with consistent use |
Typical ranges only. Individual results, timing and longevity vary.
Medical-grade skincare before and after treatment
Some of the most important care happens outside the treatment room. How your skin is prepared before a procedure, and cared for afterward, affects how it heals.
This matters most with laser and energy-based treatments. Published expert recommendations support pairing procedures with gentle cleansing, moisturizing, barrier support and sun protection. When appropriate, we use professionally selected products, including ZO Skin Health.
-
Before
Prepare the skin with a regimen matched to your planned treatment.
-
Treatment
A controlled effect in the skin, chosen for your skin type.
-
Recovery
Gentle cleansing, barrier support and sun protection. Some actives pause as directed.
-
Maintenance
Targeted products and daily sunscreen help preserve your result.
Timing and products vary by treatment and by patient. Always follow the instructions given at your visit.
Simpler is often better. Your regimen won’t be complicated for its own sake, and freshly treated skin shouldn’t be exposed to every active ingredient in your usual routine.
Sun protection and laser safety for every skin type
Ultraviolet and visible light can both drive pigmentation. After procedures that cause inflammation, some skin can develop dark patches called post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Your skin type helps us choose the right device, settings and aftercare.
Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI. Deeper skin types generally have a greater tendency toward post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Individual risk varies and is assessed in person.
That’s why sunscreen and a proper post-procedure routine aren’t extras. They protect your skin while it heals and help keep the improvement you invested in.
Treatment protocols that evolve with the evidence
New devices and products appear constantly, but novelty isn’t evidence. We regularly review peer-reviewed research and update our treatment and skincare protocols as the evidence develops. Research informs clinical judgment; it doesn’t replace it.

How do I choose the right aesthetic provider in Beverly Hills?
Look for a provider who assesses your skin, anatomy and medical history before recommending anything, explains why a treatment fits, and is willing to recommend less, or nothing, when that’s the better choice.
Will I be treated at my first consultation?
Not necessarily. A consultation is an assessment, not an obligation to treat. Depending on your goals, skin and history, we may recommend the treatment you asked about, a different approach, or no procedure at all.
What’s the difference between Botox, filler and Sculptra?
They address different causes. Botox and Dysport relax muscles when movement causes a line. Hyaluronic-acid fillers restore structure or volume. Sculptra stimulates collagen gradually to improve skin support. Because they aren’t interchangeable, assessment comes first.
How long do Botox and filler last?
Botox and Dysport typically last about 3 to 4 months. Hyaluronic-acid fillers commonly last around 6 to 18 months, depending on the product and treatment area. Results vary from person to person.
Is laser treatment safe for darker skin tones?
Many laser and energy-based treatments can be used across skin types, but deeper skin tones have a higher tendency toward post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Choosing the right device, settings and aftercare for your skin type is essential, and that’s assessed in person.
Why does skincare matter before and after a laser treatment?
Laser treatments create controlled effects in the skin. Preparing it beforehand and supporting it afterward with gentle cleansing, moisturizing, barrier support and sun protection can help recovery. Freshly treated skin also shouldn’t be exposed to every active in your usual routine.
